noticed its on offer at tesco at mo so while i have a teeny bit of cash (DP got extra pay at his last job so want to spend on baby!) we want to get it!

What bits are you interested in? I use the bottles, milk dispenser thingys and the breast pump. Successfully mixed feeding DD2 with these bottles.

MerlinsBeard · 05/01/2008 21:08

particularly the breast pump - and there fore the bottles and steriliser.

I want to BF but want to eventually express so DP can help too

we've got on really well with it, using it for 9 months now, with ebm alongside bf.

would just point out that the pump comes with a bottle, you don't have to then use those bottles, although they do seem good for mixed feeding, but you definately don't have to buy their steriliser just because you have their bottles, they will fit in any sterilsier

tinytotmummy · 05/01/2008 21:18

Breast pump is v easy to use - only has three parts and one of those is the bottle! Has a flexible shield that goes on your boob which I found a lot more comfy than the rigid avent one.

The teats on the bottles are very like a nipple, and as I say, DD2 has really taken to them. Tried Avent, she didn't take it at all.

I haven't tried the sterilisers, but they look good.

bottles been grand for us, mixed feeding. As was the microwave steriliser - think we got it at tesco for £10?

MerlinsBeard · 05/01/2008 21:20

we haven;lt got a steriliser anymore and thought that seeing as theirs is on offer with bottles it was better

I didn't get on with Avent one tiny bit (am i allowed to say that on here or will Vicky Scott throw Avent products at me as torture?!) the breast pump HURT, the bottles leaked and our cheapo asda steriliser cracked the very last time we used it!

I combine bf with one formula bottle feed from TT bottles and have the microwave sterilizer. dd gets on really well with the bottles - never hesitated. i use an electric medala pump and transfer to tt bottles.
i also use their brest pads and even their dummies so i am obviously a fan!!!

Lomond · 05/01/2008 21:21

My daughter really likes the bottles.

PillockOfTheCommunity · 05/01/2008 21:23

I hated Avent too! I found their bottles leaked, but I had a tommee tippee cold water steriliser that was absolutely fine, got rid of it after ds1 though and this time round I just used the dishwasher.

I would thoroughly recommend the closer to nature range

MerlinsBeard · 05/01/2008 21:27

fantastic, these are the responses that i was after

its the microwave and cold water steriliser thats on offer with 4 bottles i think as well as their breast pump with the bottle and its own sterilising box thingy.

one thing with expressing, if you're planning to freeze the ebm, I had some problems with the lansinoh storage bags, and have seen other threads on here too, when you defrost the milk the bag splits slightly on one seam meaning the milk leaks out

I complained to them and they said this does happen sometimes, they use plastic with no nasty stuff in, but that means it is quite brittle. they sent me enough bags to double bag what I had stored, and an extra box, but since then I've always defrosted the milk in a sterilised container just in case!

peachygirl · 05/01/2008 21:36

I have the microwave steriliser and use the bottles and they are very good DD took to them from the beginning, we did a bit of suplementing in the early days and are mixed feeding now at 11 months.
My only complaint with them is that they are not compatible with the tommee tippee weaning cups, the ones with the spouts. and they don't have handles like the avent ones do for when babies are a bit bigger

geordiemacminx · 05/01/2008 21:36

Was gonna say you could have my steriliser for postage, but the bottles are £4.00 each in boots so wouldnt be worth it for you really

MerlinsBeard · 05/01/2008 21:42

oh crikey, i di9dn'[t even think of storing ebm....oh blimmin eck

i never really got the hang of it last time. felt too pressured into DP doing some feeds, which he did and then got bored as my milk 'gave up'

have put my foot down this time and said i will express when i am established and will bf until I am ready to stop

OP posts:
MerlinsBeard · 05/01/2008 21:43

thank you geordie thats very kind of you

geordiemacminx · 05/01/2008 21:50

Anything else you need?

PillockOfTheCommunity · 06/01/2008 22:25

like a huge supply of lansinoh bags and breast pads? I have most of what they sent me and although i'm still feeding, i don't leak or express anymore so i'll send you them for postage too if you can use them!

MerlinsBeard · 07/01/2008 09:41

i managed to get the last breast pump and the last steriliser so its a good job i went lol!

I feel like a first timer, i didn't bf DS1 - long story but wanted to but mw wasn't a good support and hv said i was too young (???), and i didn;t have MN when i struggled with ds2, feel like this is my chance to do it properly

Feels like i am ready for baby now.....good job as i have been told it could be anytime now (eeek!) (30 weeks and placenta wories)

Pillock, i would like some lansinoh bags please that would be great, i think i am CATable but if not my email is my MN nickname @gmail.com

geordie, i think i have most things now, just hadn't remembered i may need somewhere to store ebm

geordiemacminx · 07/01/2008 09:47

I think I have some breast pads I could send you?

jmpuddleduck · 07/01/2008 20:22

mumofmonsters, just read your thread and wanted to say give it your best shot, but at the end of the day your baby will survive if you need to bottle feed.I hope your problems sort themselves out and you have a few more weeks of pregnancy, but Dd2 was born early and was in scbu and I had to fight to make them let me try and breast feed her, but it worked, and I fed her for 12m, wasnt easy at first and if if couldnt I would have happily fed her anyway that was best for her. I have some closer to nature bottles and a pump, if you need anymore let me know.
