Baby Annabel

DD is 4 on Saturday and keeps asking for a baby Annabel.
Are they really worth the money (although it would be MIL buying it for her if anything)
Can anyone recommend anything else?

My dd has had her Baby Annabelle for 4 yrs now (she is 7) and still loves her ! Doesn't get played with hugely - usually after she has been with a real baby and is nagging em to have another ! Also used to play schools and nureseries a lot !

I would get one - they are great !

My dd2 is now 9 and still plays with baby annabel. When she first had this doll at approx 4/5 she didn't play with her to mauch but over the years has been a fav in make up play and "dolls"

DD has baby annabelle and a soft bodied similar style doll from mothercare.

TBH she has always favoured the £12 mothercare doll (typical!) but DS loves baby A

If your DD spends a lot of time playing babies etc, then I do think its worth it

She loves playing with the babies she has (about 6 at last count!) but when we ask her what she is going to choose for Nan to buy her she always says Baby Annabelle!

My dd is 10 and baby annabel is the only doll that got a repreive from the attic when we sorted out her toys last year.

She had it when she was 6, my niece had one when she was 4, and although she didn't play with it all that much over the first couple of years it came into it's own after that.

Question for people whose DC have lots of dolls - where does it come from?! DD (14mths) was given 4 for Christmas (none of them from us) and turns out to be obsessed - how did that happen? She has loads of cuddly animals and has never shown much interest in carting them around, but suddenly we can't go anywhere without a blooming doll (generally the pinkest and least tasteful of the 4, naturally!)

Nature isn't it ? Girls programmed to nurture and mother ??? My dd adores babies ! I'm not bothered myself ! maybe it skips generations !

DD is 12 and she had a baby annabelle when she was about 4 and she cherished it. However her favourite doll is a raggedy old thing that cost about £3. She is called Peggy and still sleeps with dd now (slightly ruins her rock chick street cred!)

DD 3 had Annabel for Xmas and adores her, most cherished present. I did loads of research and am really pleased with it, quite sturdy and not too annoying. Most baby like, likeable doll as opposed to scarey(baby Alive) and faintly ridiculous (baby Born, carriage, horse etc). Argos do a good accessory set(travel cot, rocker seat, gro bag etc) was on offer before Xmas.

1 tip, the clothes are very expensive, got a coat free from Boots but won't be buying anymore ,found all dd's newborn clothes in the acttic-they fit brilliantly and she loves them. You may want to get a spare dummy and bottle. Wouldn't bother with the turning head one either, dd has last years and loves it, don't think she'd spend much time watching her turn her head too busy lugging her around by the head.

DD2 (10) still has her Baby Annabel, doesn't play with her, but won't part with her either.

She's had a number of other dolls over the years, but Annabel always remained her favourite.
