Only place in Muswell Hill is the new art shop but I haven't been in since they opened. Used to be a brilliant art shop but the increase in the lease was too much for the art shop that had been there for years and so closed down. I think the new shop is called Art for Art's sake.

On Upper St in Islington there's a nice art shop (Canonbury Art Shop, no. 266) for the arty stuff, plus a Rymans for the stationery type stuff.

finsbury park there's a massive art shop called John Jones, so would be on the bus route from p.g. but it may be a bit adult ie proper art, they only had little test tubes of glitter the other day when i wanted massive tubs...but they had a nice selection of those big squirty paint containers in lots of colours. also just on blackstock road, round the corner from there is a small stationers/card shop called fish and cook that have nice kiddy activity things, stickers and drawing/paint pads. think we got our scrapbook in there. if you want to go later you could always nip round the north circular to toysrus in the car. sure they'd have stuff like that.

also further down blackstock road is a little woolshop called Lenarow, which sells a terrific selection of pompoms, fake hair and googly eyes. also lots of ribbons and crafty things. we love it there.

champs they're lovely in fish n cook. if you do go, try Lenarow too, you carry on up blackstock rd towards highbury (with 7 sisters road behind you) on the left hand side, same as fishy's, and it's about a 5 min walk just before the bend in the road (near zebra crossings by gillespie rd), we love their crafty selection

john jones charged us the earth to frame a picture recently, but they did do a good job..

ty bundle!! I didn't see the last msg till now so didn't get to see Lenaro. will try it out another day. you are right fish and cooks was wonderful!! very helpful got some lovely scrabook templates and some other bits no paper punches tho, they thought i meant hole punchers on the phone. went to jonh jones, not too helpful really and big flight of stairs went up and left the two ds' downstairs. Asked if there was lift chap told me to go round and they will help me up the other way as it would be easier. went round in rain and came to stairs exactly the same amaount as other side waited for him to come, sent ds1 up to get him, decided to go myself when a lovely customer helped me up. Had to carry buggy down on my own while 3 workers upstairs and 2 downstairs watched!! Not so great but I did get a craft knife and some pens also some blue glue pens i have been looking for.
fish and cooks was wonderful ty ty ty
