7 month old now on the move so need to get stair gates sorted.......would rather have the pressure ones as don't want to drill holes into the stairs - but so many options out there.....any recommendations?

We've got the Lindam one, seems fine so far
DH tested it by trying to yank it off the wall himself, he couldn't move it

Some Mothercare and Ikea models are made by Baby Dan if it helps reduce your options. We had pressure fit ones from each but they had a bottom bar.

Do not put pressure one at top of stairs, please please please don't do it (read more). Get one that screws in for stair top. After you mount it, give it a good shake and make sure you can't loosen it, much less can a clamboring and chunky 2yo.
I'm the most lax person I know on MN wrt safety and it amazes me anybody even briefly considers a pressure-mounted gate at top of stairs. They are just too easy to push thru.

I think we had these which are quality, very popular.

we have the one that lljkk suggested I didn't want one with a bottom bar at the top of the stairs (I envisioned tripping over it whilst carrying the baby or our 3 year old tripping over it) DH has put a wooden baton on the wall for it to be screwed into because we have plasterboard walls and I thought it would loosen over time and leave big holes in the wall. (hope that makes sense)
