Super Paper Mario - very good usual Mario adventure (jumping on stuff, coin gathering, secret levels, hints from strange people) great convert to 3D mode. Not much actual use of the Wii controller in the form of moving it around. Mainly use the controller on it's side as a traditional games consol controller.

Now come and tell me about yours before dh and I blow another £40!

Starwars has been going down pretty well here.

I can't do it of course but dc (and dh) love it.

onlyjoking9329 · 28/12/2007 19:40

starwars is DS fav at the moment.

fullofchocolatemoonfiend · 28/12/2007 19:40

does anyone know if zelda can be played by 2 people?

onlyjoking9329 · 28/12/2007 19:41

yes it can, DS played it at mates house

JingleyJen · 28/12/2007 19:42

warioware - is my fave
Big brain acadamy - lots of fun with DH
Mario galaxy - Dh's fave
Wii Play - racing cows and fishing DS1's fave (he is nearly 4)

fullofchocolatemoonfiend · 28/12/2007 19:42

Ah! We loooked and looked at reviews and couldn't tell at all. Humph. They have just bought Supermario instead...

fingerwoman · 28/12/2007 19:45

no. zelda isn't 2 player. me and dp had to take turns, bah!

onlyjoking9329 · 28/12/2007 19:48

fingerwoman is right DS and mate had to take turns

ChippyMinton · 28/12/2007 19:51

Games console virgins in this house until today, when we finally unwrapped the Wii.

Apart from the wii sports, we have tried mario galaxy so far, which DS1 (6) and I have been getting into. Will try Big Brain Academy later, and still waiting for lego star wars to arrive from HMV [groan]

ginnedupudding · 28/12/2007 19:54

I was impressed today with the Pokemon game. Ds1 has got it on his Nintendo DS and he managed to transfer all the Pokemon he caught on his DS to the Wii game. I thought that was really clever.
The sports one is good too especially the bowling.
Watch out for flying arms though. Ds2 has been clouted round the head a couple of times when he got to close and I got whacked in the stomach while walking past ds1 in mid tennis stroke

heronsfly · 28/12/2007 19:57

Rayman raving rabbits is a big hit in our house.

myrrhthamoo · 28/12/2007 20:08

Ds2 is loving Lego Star Wars and ds1 likes his Fifa 07 (or is it 08?). They both look far too hard for me but I quite like the bowling.

magicmummy · 28/12/2007 20:21

Carnival is good fun - 25 fun fair type games

CharleeSawMummyKissingSanta · 28/12/2007 20:31

Warioware Smooth Moves - Wicked game.

Boogie - Great Fun

Mario and Sonic at the Olympics - quite hard but i like it.

Harry Potter - Really good fun.

Rayman Raving Rabbids - Best game yet i love it, loads of mini games.

Smackdown Vs Raw 2008 - great if you like wwe.

Cosmic Family - DS was a bit young so no real valid review on it sorry.

Wii Sports - Great excersise for the whole family

Mario Party 8 - a bit boring tbh

Big brain academy - fun but repetative.

YeahBut · 28/12/2007 20:34

Sports - v. good for all family
High School Musical - dd2 loves this (but she does want to be a pop star when she grows up)
Rabid rabbits - Hilarious for young and old.
Star Wars - Not seen dh this happy for years.

DANCESwithMrClaus · 28/12/2007 20:37

FAB! So which are good for a bit of 'exercise'(ahem) and why is Zelda so good?! (used to have it for the gameboy and I loved it then!)

Warioware Smooth Moves - best fun I've had in ages. Gets full marks from me and I highly recommend it.

Zelda's a great game too for one person who likes adventure games and has hours of time to spare, but not good for pick-up-and-play family fun. I've played all the Zelda games through right from the start on the old NES though so I wasn't going to miss this one.

Need a new one before the DDs go back to work/university - considering Mario Galaxy.

Anyone got some good games for the adults they can review?

Particularly interested in Red Steel, and the Tomb Raider Anniversary games...

thegrowlygus · 30/12/2007 15:35

Tomb raider is driving me mad. She is annoying and doesn't do what I tell her. Or maybe I should read the instructions.
The shooting is tricky - you have to lock on with the nunchuck, and move her around to avoid the beasties with the nunchuck whilst aiming and shooting with the controller. Which is hard work for old folk like me.

Other than that, quite enjoying it, waving my arms about like a loon (and that is without the controllers!!)

We have dd aged 9 & DS aged 6 & neither have realy played on games consoles before. We bought bb acadamy and carnival games for them and they are both good, not fantastic but 'fine'. With their xmas money we've bought Mario galaxy (ds loves it) raving rabbits (havnt tried it yet) but the bargain and runaway success has been Monster 4 x 4 world circuit. DS said he wanted a 'driving' game. This was advertised by argos as being reduced from about £24 to £12.50. The reviews are avge but we decided to chance it givent he price. They both love it. It may not be up to the standard that 'regular gamers' might be used to but they love it. We ordered them online as they werent in stock at shop so had to pay p & p but for some reason they only charged us £10 for the game!

Troutpout · 05/01/2008 20:19

We love Super mario galaxy.
Harry Potter is pants
