Would a sleep training clock work?

DD2 is nearly 6 and for the last few weeks her sleep has got gradually worse and worse.

At present we are at a point where she is waking us any time from 4am onwards and crying etc and creating because she wants to get up. She woke at 4am this morning and when we went in after 3 hours of crying and creating she was fast asleep.

Is DD2 too young for a sleep training clock?

my 4 year old has a digital clock in her room and she knows she cant come through to us until it says 7:00. We started her off when she was about 2 1/2 amd would come through really early - at that point we used fluffy fairy lights on a timer and started setting it for 6am to begin with as she was coming in just before that time. We gradually moved it forward 10 minutes at a time until the timer was at 7am and when the fairy lights broke we switched to using the clock. 6 is not too young at all but there is no need to buy a expensive sleep training clock if you can use something else to get the same effect.
