Is Nespresso REALLY that good?

I have been reading the reviews on Amazon of the Nespresso coffee machines but wondered if the coffee is of Starbucks quality or proper Italian coffee.

Also wondered if there was an alternative coffee pod system to Nespresso seeing as it's Nestle. We have a Gaggia espresso machine but don't use it much as we don't think it's as good as the real thing abroad. But the simplicity of the pod system appeals.

Nespresso is fab. Quality is fantastic. Got into them when I lived in Switzerland where they are really popular. You can recycle the pods btw.

The best ones are the purple pods - arpeggio or something. Really rich and dark. Nothing like 'Bucks.

There are alternatives (think Tassimo is one?) but I only know nespresso.

I agree. We love our nespresso and have had it nearly 6 years now. Very well built machine and the coffee is excellent. Nespresso are very quick at sending out the capsules too. How do you recycle the pods margo?

Before you go out and buy a Nespresso just remind yourself of this.

You can get nespresso to send you a special pot to collect all the pods for recycling and send them back to them. Maybe that's just Switzerland though. They take recycling very seriously there...

I bought a adaptor to put on my ordinary expresso machine as I did not find its taste as good as the Italian expresso, and now I use pods instead of lose coffee: it is a lot neater and it tastes a lot more like a real expresso.
