I'm hoping to catch up with my cousin soon when I'm visiting the city she lives in. I haven't seen her since my wedding 9 yrs ago when her youngest girls were 3 and a baby. I'd like to bring them a small present each but need some suggestions for something appropriate for their ages - I've no idea what kind of things they are into. Has anyone out there got girls around these ages? I'm flying so it needs to be fairly small and lightweight.

What about a necklace? Argos have 20% off their kids' jewellery at the mo - just bought some for my girls' crimble pressies. Or notebooks and gel pens with little novelty rubbers and stamps and bits? Hair stuff?

For girls that age I'd recommend anything from Lush - the toiletries company, or something from Primark - hair stuff, fancy little notebooks & pens, cute purses with images of puppies & kittens.

Ditto what Aloha says. My dd is 11.5. I would avoid Claires personally as a bit too tacky. Depends what sort of money you want to spend but in Jane Norman you can get a perfectly good (and obligatory) bag for under a tenner!!!

Thanks for the suggestions - the problem is I don't know if they are "girly" girls or not and the 12 yr old was pretty precocious as a 3 yr old so may not appreciate anything too "cute"
