We'd like to buy DS a bike for christmas
(he's 3) and want one with good thick tyres that glides smoothly to try and make it a bit easier for him to get the hang off. He's had a second hand bike for the last year but although he's happy to get on and off it he hasn't got the idea of pedalling but it's actually quite hard going and not very smooth so I think it's not helping things.
He had a go on a friend's bike yesterday and very nearly got the hang of it so it's inspired me to buy him one. This was a girls colour though and bought over a year ago otherwise I'd buy the same one.

I will try Halfords today for some help and advice but my experiences of the bike department there in the past has been quite poor.

Can anyone recommend a good bike please?

ds has \link{http://www.dawes-cycles.co.uk/blowfish.asp#\this one) which we've been very pleased with - a really solid, long lasting bike.

ds is short and got it when he was 4. You'd have to measure it, I think.
