Fisher Price - not working properly, no consumable parts to replace. Has anyone managed to get a replacement?

This is regarding the Laugh and Learn grand piano. We got this for DS for his 1st birthday back in July and he loves it, but has played with it so much that it is now not working properly. The problem seems to be with the keyboard - other parts are working OK. DH (an electronics engineer) has taken it apart (which I know would technically invalidate any warranty if we told them), it worked better for a while and has now gone back to how it was. It has to be the circuit board that's faulty.

Has anyone managed to get a replacement product under these circumstances? I'm sure a toy like this should be expected to last more than 6 months even with intensive (but not rough) use.

I took something FP back to Toys R Us several years ago after we'd had it about six months and it just stopped working. It was a gift from a friend to ds and I had no proof that it was bought there, but they replaced it for me no problem after I explained. I think it was actually bought in another branch, but as Toys R Us carried the item, it would be no problem for them to return it to the manufacturers. I don't know if that would still be the case though, ds1 was only about three at the time and he's approaching 10 now!

I'd try returning it from where you bought it as a first point of call, then if no luck there, call FP and ask what they can do since your son loves this toy so much.

Why didn't I think of that - duh. It was Argos, who on past experience are absolutely sh*te when it comes to customer service, but I'll give it a go.
