I quite fancy one and Grandad has sent me a cheque for Christmas.

So are they as good as they sound?

Any good deals around, saw one in Asda for £89 and it records 2 channels at the same time.

What is the hours/ Gb comparison one said 120 hours the other 160 Gb, not sure how to compare.

Confused now.

Asda one was Thomson brand. £79 in argos even better.

the ones with the hard drives are brill- it pauses live tv and records about 50 hours of tv. ALso plays dvds and records onto dvds. Think ours is a philips (HDD and DVD recorder from Argos)
The hours thing is not very helpful. Ours said 160 hours but not at very good quality.

oh, because we used it a couple of times and it was a faff and then we completely forgot how it works and can't find the instructions. it's not intuitive. and it doesn't even play dvds that well. a bush one, cheapo. i suppose you get what you pay for.

We've got a DVD/HD recorder. It's a Panasonic. It's great.

skyatnight · 19/12/2007 01:08

The Humax playback one is supposed to be good, but is expensive.

Krimble · 19/12/2007 22:25

Argh got the Thompson one but having problems with the play back of a recored programme. I will let it update overnight and see if that sets it on the straight and narrow. Goes all wonky and skips when I tried to fast forward. But it is supposed to update its self overnight. we will see. Quality of play back is as good as when it is live. Records 2 channels at once but you can't watch a different 3 channel while it is doing this. Tis easy to set it to record though.
