Has anyone bought this recently and if so, do you need the lid on or off when cooking? The instructions are a bit random but they mention stirring the pasta during cooking and checking the water levels and adding salt and then putting container into microwave without lid but I can't decipher whether you leave the lid off to start with. It mentions straining liquid through the lid at the end, so I'm wondering whether that's the only purpose of the lid?
