i've seen the ads and agree they look gimmicky

also you're restricted to using douwe egberts coffee - not good if you're a coffee connoisseur!

DH is a coffee connoisseur and he has a Nespresso coffee maker. I wasn't convinced initially but I have to admit that it does make a lovely cup of coffee. Only downside is that it uses coffee capsules which you have to order off their website.

Have a look here: Nespresso

I guess it ultimately comes down to how much you like coffee

Friend has got one of the Nespresso ones (didn't know that's what they were called but did, of course, tut about it being Nestle )

Coffee, however, was very good.

I have seen the Senseo in action and didn't like the coffee. I have several acquaintances who have a Nespresso machine. It makes a super coffee and you can have it espresso or longo now too. Their coffee machines are more expensive but the quality is excellent.
Shame it's Nestle
