Has anyone got a digital camera suitable for a child, seeing as the ones intended for children get PANTS reviews

DS1 is 3.7 and LOVES taking photos. He's asked for a camera (having seen the Fisher Price one on TV...) for Christmas.

Or has anyone got one of the ones intended for children who IS happy with it? So far, I've seen the FP one, the vTech one and a Disney Cars one.

Grandparents bought the fisherprice one for our 6 year old. The photo quality isn't great...but then neither are the photos that she's taking with it (mainly photos of people's backs, the ceiling, her bedcover etc etc), so that doesn't feel too awful. It's incredibly easy to use it, very shock proof (and my 3 year old can use it easily too) and so we've found it does exactly what we want it to do.

DS2 got the VTECH one for his 4th birthday and loves it. I don't know what the photo quality is like, as we haven't printed any off yet.

Hmm, it's more about whether they like it, isn't it?

Thanks for this - v useful!

I bought a cheap second hand one off ebay for my DS1 a couple of years ago, when he was 5. He loved it for a while, until he got bored. It was just a point and press thing so it wasn't difficult to use. I shall have to dig it out again for DS2 as he keeps using my expensive one and he seems to really enjoy it too.

I thought about a child's one but as you say they don't get a good review and they are quite expensive. The one I bought was about 1/3 of the price of a new child's one and because it is 2nd hand and cheap I am not too bothered if it gets wrecked eventually.

search for misko on here for a link to a 'real' one cheap and simple enough to give to a child, hunker

Yes, they are expensive - and I'm not really all that keen on kid versions of proper things - I'm sure most children prefer the proper thing!

Franny, I have found one that looks perfect on there - thank you very much!
