Great Game, Chess for 6 yr olds

We bought my dd 'Quick Chess' for his 6th birthday in November. It cost between £10 & £12 from amazon and we're all hooked. There are fights as to who gets to play between me, dh, ds & dd (9). None of us can play chess. You work thru a series of levels (about 10 in all i think) each introducing a different piece and how it can move. SO the first game is just played with pawns, the next game is pawns and a king and so on. We're only at game three at moment but it's brill and i'd really recommend it.

Am thinking of getting this for 6yr old ds so good to see your recommendation! Does it progress to a proper game of chess?

Yes it does, the board has 2 sides, a mini chess board with less squares on one side and a proper board on the other, althought with the social life my children have at the moment goodness knows when we'll get there!

ooh - might try that. DS1 loves draughts ad has a chess set but hasn't found anyone to teach him how to play. I haven't played for about 30 years!
