My trusty Vauxhall Meriva failed its MOT last week and it will cost more to repair than it is worth. So I am looking fairly urgently for a new but used car - using DH’s in the meantime. He is still working from home so ok to do so now but not sustainable long term as he’s due to start going back to work at least a day or two a week fairly soon. We live fairly rurally - buses just aren’t an option unfortunately.
I need something reliable and big enough to ferry teenage boys and their clobber around. This includes bikes - I can currently just about get 3 bikes in the boot of my Meriva with a bit of manoeuvring and the seats down and need to be able to do the same with the new car. I also like quite a high driving position - feels easier to drive. I have reluctantly dismissed anything electric or even hybrid - I can’t charge at home and can’t afford the extra for a hybrid.
I’ve whittled it down to the Suzuki Vitara or the Seat Ateca. I’ve got offers in mind for both. The Ateca is a bit bigger and a couple of thousand pounds more expensive. My question is: is it worth it? I’d be really interested in the opinions of anyone who drives either an Ateca or Vitara. I’m worried about being able to park the Ateca too.
