pre-booked ore-ordered regular supermarket shop

I want to have the same shop online grocery shop delivered each week on repeat without having to book it and fill the basket each time. I can't find any normal supermarkets that do this. Can anyone help?

Sainsbury's does have a pilot scheme 'regular shop' but it is invite only.

Ocado, Abel and Cole, Riverford etc. do let you prebook a slot and order but are too expensive.

There is Amazon, but it feels weird doing a food shop from Amazon. Does anyone use them for groceries? We do get dried goods from them so maybe it would be okay.

I know it’s boring but help me out so I can be a streamlined efficient modern human (or spend more time gazing out the window instead of having to ordering the shop). It’s always the same things on the same day so surely it can be automated?

I don't know if it's quite what you're after but I use Asda and have a recurring slot for the same day and time every week. I don't think you can set it to automatically send the same thing every week without any input at all, but you can just press order again on the last order and it will fill the basket with everything you had previously and then you can just checkout. Takes around 30 seconds.

@MickeyMouseEars

Tesco’s sort of does but you need to do a perfect weekly shop and then add the contents of that perfect previous shop to your trolley each week. What I want is to have a list which I can amend rather than have to get right first time. The problem with using previous shops is there’ll be things I don’t need every week in them, or I’ll forget something that should be in there and can’t add it.

It would be so useful just to click all the weekly shop into the basket or even better just have it turn up. If I got really organised I could have a weekly (eggs milk etc) and monthly (peanut butter laundry liquid etc). I’m not sure why the supermarkets don’t encourage it.

@Franklyfrost Tesco did used to do a shopping list option which I used for Easter one year - it's not on the app but may be on desktop. I used to use it for bigger events so I could plan in advance. If they do still do it it's just what you're looking for!

Franklyfrost · 25/08/2021 12:05

@Leftbutcameback

They don't do lists anymore at Tescos
Weird, you'd think it would be something people would use.

@Franklyfrost I wonder if they discovered people would buy more if they couldn't be so organised! It's disappointing though as it's such a useful function

ASDA has a "shopping lists" section so you could make your perfect shopping list then just click it into the basket each week

Ah My system is grand. As I am housebound on a small offshore island my groceries come in on the ferry every two weeks and the island bus brings them to my door. I email the mainland supermarket with the list. They put it to the ferry via the relevant special shopping bus. I leave the list on my email and amend or add to it next time. Supermarket manager has my card details. Their shopping pages online list stock and any items not there they will get in. Works well..
