So wrong. Just get your child a real bike FFS!

CountessDracula · 26/11/2007 17:40

ewwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww

that is terrible

FAWKEOFFwiththetinsel · 26/11/2007 17:42

just give your kid a take away and a gallon of pop to go with it

flowerybeanbag · 26/11/2007 17:42

What if you live in a flat in the middle of a city and it's not safe for a small child to play outside? Or it's dark by the time they are home from school?

I know what you mean, and a proper bike would be better but this is better than playstation or whatever I'd say.

southeastastra · 26/11/2007 17:43

i like it what's wrong with it?

tortoiseSHELL · 26/11/2007 17:44

Oh it's wrong wrong wrong. More time spent looking at a screen, less in the fresh air, more opportunity for parents to 'opt out' of parenting. Hate it.

cupcakekitty · 26/11/2007 17:44

agree, pathetic but sadly for some parts of town perhaps the only way a kid will actually be allowed to use a bike?

Kathyis6incheshigh · 26/11/2007 17:44

I don't think it's wrong exactly, but I think it's a Sad Indictment Of Our Society.

? whats the big fuss? It is educational and on days when its wet your child is not just sat playing on a computer he will be able to get some exercise too! Ds has a leapster bought because its educational and TBH if he was younger i would have probably bought this. Everything in moderation surely! Seems to be a child friendly version of WII where you actually are moving and exercising whilst playing games!

(((ducks because im bound to get stoned now for disagreeing with majority!)))

Spidermama · 26/11/2007 17:45

They'll be doing virtual trips to the swing park next. Press buttons on the controller to go up the ladder then the right thumb allows you to slide down.

southeastastra · 26/11/2007 17:46

there was another thread about this. my son would like it, i can't get him on a normal bike, this may at least get him to try one.

tortoiseSHELL · 26/11/2007 17:46

But it's not a bike. Riding a bike isn't just pedalling, it's about balance, being outside, going somewhere. It's no more like riding a bike than a racing game is like driving.

Cam · 26/11/2007 17:47

Its yet another computer game and yet more looking at screenage time but with the added horror of being like a hamster on its wheel

No to the "smart" cycle

Yes, it's worse than going out & getting your exercise in the fresh air on a real bike, but it's better than just sitting down with a playstation.

Whether it turns out to be a Good Thing depends on whether it encourages more former couch potatoes to get some exercise while they play computer games than it seduces former bike-riders away from their outdoor ewxercise....

Cam · 26/11/2007 17:49

Its a naff amusement arcade, its...everything I detest... shouldn't be allowed, etc etc

southeastastra · 26/11/2007 17:49

on the other thread a poster thought it would be great for her autistic child.

LoveMyGirls · 26/11/2007 17:49

But who wants one of those in their living room? It's big and ugly and just wrong. I can see those who live in flats may find its better than nothing but then isnt that what parks are for?

LIZS · 26/11/2007 17:50

I want an adult one !

zookeeper · 26/11/2007 17:50

I think it's absolutely fine used in moderation - on a night like tonight when cold and dark outside I'd rather have my ds on this than slumped in front of the tv.

Cam · 26/11/2007 17:50

It would get on my nerves

zookeeper · 26/11/2007 17:51

err is anyone's ds/dd in the park at the moment? What are they all doing whilst we are on mumsnet?

tortoiseSHELL · 26/11/2007 17:52

But children on exercise bikes is just wrong wrong wrong. They may be exercising their legs, but they're not exercising their brains and imaginations, it's just another screen. (Said as her children watch Lazytown ).

zookeeper · 26/11/2007 17:52

Cam! Hello! Good to see you back.

Even if you disagree with me

zookeeper · 26/11/2007 17:52

Quite, Tortoiseshell
