We are looking to buy a camcorder but have no idea what to look for. Its mainly for capturing ds so nothing too flash. I've had a look at some of the archive threads but most are a few years old so are a bit out of date?

Can anyone recommend one or give some tips on what to look for? Or any good deals around at the moment? Looking to spend about £300?

Thanks

We bought one when bub came along, I know nothing about these things but my husband and his friends are all ridiculously into all things technical and he bought a camcorder that records to a hard drive because if you have it for a few years it will adapt with new technology whereas discs may not be as useful. We can burn to disc, if we want but as he's telling me now, cds will not be the main media format (like tapes went to cds and now cds are going hddvd etc etc). Ours can still be plugged into any computer in 10 years time and will still be readable and transferable
Does that make sense to you? I doubt they cost any different to other formats. Please note, I know nothing about this stuff, this is all I was told!!!

We have got one with a hard drive too. I don't know much about technology either but agree with what Lipsy said. Sony do some good ones I think, ours was about £300 a year ago.
