Advice please! Good shops for special gifts.

It's my mum's 60th birthday in a few weeks and I'm really struggling to find some nice gifts for her. I'm hoping to get her a necklace and a jewellery box (one that I can get engraved), as well as a few bits and bobs for her to open, but I'm really underwhelmed by the selection on offer at the obvious shops (standard high Street jewellers, Etsy, John Lewis, etc).

Can anyone suggest any less well known jewellery/gift shops which I could take a look at?

How about choosing a special brand? What’s the budget?

Budget wise, I'm looking to spend about £150, but my two brothers are also hoping I'll be able to spend about the same from each of them. I therefore have about £450 to spend on a pool of gifts from the three of us.

I sometimes wish they'd sort their own bloody gifts out, but that's another story!

My favourite fashion, home and gift shop is found in Winchester, Hampshire and has an incredible range at great prices. People who know it, consider it a real find and they go back time and again.

From their fashion line there are handbags, shawls with soft fluffy heart tassles (I love mine, it is beautifully soft and esp great for eating outside when the evenings are cool and for Christmas do's too!). The range of clothes are from XS to XL and are always in season colours and styles.

There are beautiful home items that are quirky and unique but you'll also find gorgeous scented candles with beautiful quirky candle holders eg the gold and black coloured monkey candle sticks or the large wooden ball with a glass storm candle set up inside it. My book club bought that recently for one of our friends who turned 60 and she loves it.

There is also a number of jewellery ranges from matching gold t-bar necklaces, earrings and bracelets which are also sold separately to the French range called Nahu that is made of exquisite handmade silk thread and leather with gemstones - the bracelets are completely unique ..

There are also hand and body lotions with a very high standard of ingredients but with outstanding fragrance combinations (my favourite is anything with neroli or wild fig). As someone who suffers from sleep deprivation brought on by menopause I absolutely love their facial mist spray with neroli and other natural ingredients which helps me to drop off everytime I use it it's an essential beside my bed now The Ubiety range gives all its profits to end of life care. The beautifully crafted packaging and products from Arthouse Limited are stunningly high quality from young people and adults with learning difficulties..so artistically packaged, it is a shame to wrap them! They do soaps, lotions and the loveliest chocolate bars.
