Large world map

Does anybody have a large map of the world on their wall? Are the kids interested in it? (We have 2 DSs, aged 2 and 4.) Would you get a kids one maybe like this or a "proper" grown up one? Any recommendations greatly received, thanks!

That is quite a interesting one not sure if it shows country borders though, My DS has a map of europe and mapped out where his Dad was when away. Good for pointing out where people are or where things are happening.

Bargain Books/ Publishers World shops often have a pack of 4 maps that are good value. Europe/ World/ Stars and something else .

We have a huge one I bought in lidl's a few years ago.It was up in the kitchen but it is now in ds's bedroom.

He has shown an interest in it since he was about 3 I'd say .

We discuss where we go on holiday, where father xmas lives, where relatives live all sorts .SO I would say that it is worthwhile.

I would get a proper grown up one with political boundaries.

Great talking point when guests come round aswell.

I saw a fantastic giant world map at Ikea last week, and thought how great it would be when my lo's are older. Didn't see how much it was, but it might be on their website.

AllBuggiedOut · 20/11/2007 10:02

Ooh, am off to Ikea in about 10 mins - will check it out, thanks!

I am lusting after the huge Urchin one that's 2.5 x 4m - it was in the Times at the weekend pasted onto the sloping ceiling of an attic bedroom and it looked fabulous.

Ikea one is £89. It's nicely made, printed on canvas, but the colours are rather dull, so didn't get it. The Urchin one is spectacular, but wouldn't work in our playroom - too big and there's a dado rail.

Any other suggestions please?

mapsworld

AllBuggiedOut · 20/11/2007 19:46

This one looks good, thanks ggirl, although very expensive! But it's that sort of size rather than a normal "poster" size I want. Your Lidl one sounds ideal!

brimfull · 20/11/2007 19:50

It is great except it's in German lol

AllBuggiedOut · 20/11/2007 19:51

Ah!

ABO, Habitat do a floor mat with a map of the world on it, it's really great! Sort of small rug size. £20 I think, but I wasn't really paying attention

AllBuggiedOut · 22/11/2007 21:14

Thanks - we have that Habitat mat at the grandparents and the boys do enjoy it. I really want something to liven up the walls (and cover the hideous wallpaper) in our playroom. Any other (less than £45!) suggestions please?
