Thinking of getting a Tesla and would love to know your pros and cons. Looking at a Model 3 long range.

@ToTeslaOrNot I got the grey - was sorely tempted to get the Red one but bottled at the last, as it felt a bit flash. What about you?

ToTeslaOrNot · 17/06/2021 06:03

Took the plunge and ordered a new Tesla in blue with black interior. Wanted red as it was lovely but would be waiting until September which is too long. Was going for grey but we always get grey and black cars so blue it is! Only got to wait a few weeks too. Exciting!

The frunk (front boot) is smaller now due to the heat exchanger but cables can be stored there easily, and the boot is very deep.

The frunk (front boot)

Shouldn’t that be the ‘froot’’ in the UK?

ToTeslaOrNot · 17/06/2021 19:33

Coogee - lol!

We love that. ‘Froot’ it is in our house. Trunks are for elephants.

workingtowards · 17/06/2021 20:35

Thank you Coogee! My message should have been in reply to yours but technology failed me.

ToTeslaOrNot · 17/06/2021 21:40

Froot and frunk both sound a little dodgy, like front bottom….. my dh can have the frunky froot and I’ll have the boot!

Estimated delivery date for mine is 30th August, I cant wait!!

I’m not sure that the experience of collecting the new Tesla is going to be great. We’ve got to travel miles to join 100+ people collecting a car from a car park. Just being given a key and told there’s your car isn’t what we’re used to, and is pretty rubbish. Will have to get a checklist of things to spot - faults etc.

My dad has a Tesla model S. If you’re used to a luxury car, you may find Tesla unnerving/disappointing/frustrating to deal with. Ultimately though, the top end service comes at a price that you must be paying for sonewhere. I could live with the rather basic service at Tesla (if I had £40k+ to spend) because the cars are brilliant. The manual is available online and there’s loads of videos about how it all works. There are also some owners groups on Facebook that might be worth joining.

Picked up new Tesla at the weekend and it’s great! Loving it! Easy collection and no issues with the car. Careoke is great fun!

Have always had luxury cars and the Tesla has all the stuff I’d expect to have. The heated seats don't just get hot on your bum but also up your back! Roll on winter!

I also got the blue and with the black handles etc, it’s great! I wasn’t sure before but loving it! Makes a change from always having black cars!

Now to start planning some long trips….

We have a grey model 3 long range with auto drive upgrade and home charger.
Pros; intelligent cruise control adapts to speed of car in front without you doing anything, amazing and love it, smooth, quiet ride with mental acceleration. Charges overnight so saves me the weekly fill up queues at garage and is a lot cheaper.
Cons; annoying over engineered door handles that you have to explain to everyone, key card only works from drivers side not passenger side, iPad control is in the middle not over drivers dash so ergonomically not great and a lot of time is spent with eyes off road if adjusting radio or air con settings. When driving to Cornwall we have to plan a 1 hour stop for charging making it into at least a 6hr trip now - 1st trip this triggered divorce talks but then worked out that most Tesla stops have very good meal options near by if you book and now we plan and go for a meal nearby that has stopped the arguments.
How are you getting on with yours?

ToTeslaOrNot · 29/06/2021 11:40

Loving it! Still playing with settings but having fun with it. No cons so far!

Happy driving to you ToTeslaOrNot! Hope you love it as much as us. ☀️
