argos has the hi-liner for £19.99 in clearance.
ds is 116cm (at last measure) and fits it fine - the head support isn't at it's highest setting by a way yet.

biglips · 19/11/2007 19:27

ooh cool...many thanks Chasingsquirrels...

this is the only car seat that i havent tried it out yet as they didnt have any in Mothercare a few months ago

i got a hi-liner in mothercare on saturday - didn't realise they had them in argos at half the price. Grr. Do you still need it measured?

sparklygothkat · 19/11/2007 20:01

I have 3 hi-liners, my eldest is a small 9 year old and still fit in it.

sparklygothkat · 19/11/2007 20:02

the hi-liner is suitable up to 11 years BTW

biglips · 19/11/2007 20:26

It's a booster seat so uses the adult seatbelt, which goes through a guide above the shoulder. The guide moves up as you raise the headrest. Headrest at lowest setting, guide is 36cm above seat; at highest setting it's 50cm.
It is a narrow seat. Across the back it measure about 26cm and about 32cm between the side 'wings'. ie about the same width as the Britax Freeways.

Are you sure you want a 3yo in a booster and not a proper harness?

biglips · 19/11/2007 22:07

chippy - i could do with another year of harness car seat but i cant find a car seat (me and a assistant went thru all the car seats) and none of them fitted my DD. That was 6m ago.

do u think i should go back again?

my ds was out of the harness type seat before he was 3 due to weight.
They are made for the average child - but if your child isn't average there isn't much you can do (either ignore the weight/height maximums, or go with a seat that is meant to be for an older age range).
I was confident that my ds wouldn't try and get out of the adult seatbelt (and he never has).
There is no way I would have this same confidence with my ds2 and so would probably keep him in the seat that he was too big for (although ds1 isn't big so it won't be an issue).
ds was quite a chubby baby/toddler (though at 5 has slimmed right down) and I have never found any problems with the narrowness of the seat.
