Roof racks for kids bikes

No idea where to put this really exciting thread so hopefully this is roughly the best place for it!

Does anyone have any experience with roof racks that are suitable for kids bikes (16" wheels) and could point me in the right direction?

We're going to Centre Parcs next month and need to take DS bike with us. Most of what I can see on Halfords says suitable for 20" plus. I was wanting something on the roof rather than over the boot so we have easy access to the boot as well be stopping halfway for an overnight to break the journey.

Also - my car (x-trail) has roof bars. Are these what the rack attaches to or do you buy these separately?

I didn't have any problem with smaller bikes on a Thule Freeride bike rack. The Thule instructions don't say anything that I can see about wheel size.

You would attach the cross bars to the roof rails and the cycle carrier to the cross bars. You will need to check that you have thr right attachments for your car.
