Now both kids are grown up and (largely) self reliable the 7 seater mum estate is going!

I love driving and want something a bit sporty that I will enjoy and is mot all about bring practical , needs to have enough room for occasional 4 adults .

Am thinking of the CLA - anyone got one & what to you think?

Friend is suggesting a Porsche - but that’s taking mid life crisis mum a bit far!

beaut cars ❤️ If they are the AMG types x

Believe it or not the CLA is actually based on the same chassis as the A-Class so not the most sporty but definitely nimble. They look absolutely incredible on the road, but the sloping roof and small back windows can make adults in the back feel a little cramped on longer journeys.

Mercedes has really upped it's game interior wise too. The new infotainment and screens look incredible. If you can, it's worth upgrading to the premium model though, you get the upgraded 12" drivers digital display then too.

I work in the industry and we're seeing some cracking personal lease deals on these at the minute. You can pick up a CLA 180 AMG Line Premium for about £292 a month at the minute with a £3,800 deposit!!

You can get some good deals on Porches but they tend to be a bit pricey and the residuals aren't quite as good. If you want a four door four seater with coupe looks you'd be looking at the Panamera or Taycan at around £700PM.

If you're feeling really adventurous take a look at the AMG models. CLA 35 or CLA 45 S. Blistering performance and AWD Wink

@asherstoppard. I need you to be my personal car shopper! Where would you recommend looking for lease deals?

Go for an e class convertible... they’re amazing, AMG line ...

JellyBabiesFan · 04/06/2021 13:23

AMG line is basicaly code for bigger wheels, different trim and some chrome. If you want a full amg then yes buy one because they are very good. Otherwise I cannot see the point wasting money on a trim that sets a car up for a sportier ride but does not have the engine to provide it.

Quite agree, full fat or nothing. All fur coat and no knickers. See also M Sport, S Line etc.

I’ve had a CLA for 5 years now. It’s great, I love it. Was going to get a new A class but this one was such a good deal (ex demo car).

EssentialHummus · 07/06/2021 20:06

I’m at the other end to you - trading in the Merc for a family friendly estate 😭. We’ve had Mercs of various ages until now. I have to say that sadly the newer ones were the ones I found least reliable - there was regularly some electronic sensor or other unhappy about something. So if you’re going to get one I’d lease, personally. Makes sense more generally for a higher end car given the knock in depreciation it takes after purchase imo.

When all the kids have left home I’m buying a G class and five Rottweilers, personally Grin.

My husband has a new CLA ( 20 plate )
It’s lovely - small engine but very powerful and economical and the big interface with everything on it
Previously he had the 2seater Mercedes SLC AMG line so all the AMG spec but not the AMG price 😂

Apart from the most important part of AMG spec which is the AMG power plant.

I take it he now has a proper AMG as none of the lower spec models are very powerful?

I have one. It’s beautiful
