As it too late for me to learn to type?

Exactly that really... I'm in my 50's, recently given up a stressful career and now looking into working from home. I've looked into doing transcription work and realise to do it well, that I need to learn to touch type. Has anyone recently taught themselves? Any hints or tips much appreciated.

My daughter learnt on the BBC bite size website during lockdown. She picked it up quite quickly and it seemed fairly straightforward.

@DanielODonkey Thank you that's a great idea, will have a look at BBC BitesizeSmile

Definitely not too late to learn. This is a good website to learn: www.typing.com/

Anybody can learn to to touch type if they really have the inclination to do so. I used to teach typing and taught an 84 year old man to touch type.He then went on to using word processing!

@idril @Wigg thank you for the encouragement I'm definitely going to give it a goSmile

I learned touch typing online with an American package ‘Typing Instructor’
Enjoyed it and now type daily
Well worth it

kneesknocking · 25/06/2021 10:00

@Wiglio will have a look for that, thanks Smile

Enjoy!

Good luck. I learned when I was in my 30s and did not have any trouble picking it up. I did a Pitman course, and even though I missed the first couple of days or so as I enrolled after the rest of the people on the course, I soon got the hang of it.

@Newchallenge @froggybiby Thanks for the encouragement 😊

How did it go?

Have a look at BBC dance mat. Great for practising typing.
