Hi.
I am looking for a small, big car haha room for big dog in boot and 2 car seats in the back. In an automatic.
Top of my list is a honda jazz. But need to try the dog in the boot first. Also on the list is a seat arona, a suzuki vitara and a Renault captur.
I really want to go sit in them etc but difficult just now due to covid. Think you need to make an appointment to see one car. But I want to see all my short list. So I'm trying to get the list as short as possible.
Do basically does anyone have a 2017/2018 maybe 2019 model of any of these, in an automatic and have any comments about it?
Thanks!

How big is your big dog?

Unless it's a spaniel or similar I reckon the Jazz might not be big enough.

Of the four you mention, the Suzuki Vitara would be top of my list because its got a good square shape at the back, which means the dog will have enough room. (Will you get a dog cage or just have bars installed?)

He is quite big yeah.. Its more the height in the boot, without too much of a slant on the window.
He'll just be in the boot, no cage or bars.

It's more the reliability of the cars I'm interested in people's opinions on.. And do the gadgets work as expected? I can try the dog in the boot once I've kind of decided which one..

My dad had two Jazzes in a row, both bought a year or two old, like you're doing. He didn't have any reliability problems with either, and only changed to a bigger car again because he and my mum couldn't pack two weeks' worth of cases into it for holidays! (He has a Lexus now.)

I had an old-shape Grand Vitara some years back and it was similarly very good, if a bit unrefined at motorway speeds. (And many years ago I had the original Vitara, a convertible, with Fatboy wheels and everything, but that's going back 25 years!)

The Arona and Captur I have no direct experience of, I'm afraid.

@PrivateParty hey sorry to jump on your thread.. But I'm looking at getting the Vitara too, but I wanted to fit my daughter ginormous car seat in. We have an axkid move. Just wondered if you have something similar?

Also how have you got on with the boot and your dog?

PrivateParty · 07/01/2022 11:22

Hi. Loving the vitara. Dog has plenty of space in the boot and can jump in and out easily enough. It's all kitted out for him and is a dog zone.
I've got/had in the back a high backed booster seat for an 8 year old and a.... Rotating car seat for a 2 year old.. When that's in the front passenger seat does need to come quite forward but it was fine.
I've got an all grip version which goes to 4x4 mode if it detects slippage or if u turn it onto snow mode. Which helped me in the snow this morning.
