I am useless when it comes to bikes....rather embarrassingly I can't ride one myself - aged 33! I still managed to teach DS1 to ride his small bike and now he needs to move up to his next one. His birthday is in a couple of weeks and we went to look today in the local bike shop and I was shocked to see how expensive they were. The one we both liked the most was this one but it was £150. Is that a lot? I've seen other ones for much less but maybe they aren't as good?

I've been told to buy the best i can afford as it will last longer etc. is this true or just shop talk?

I think it depends on the age of your DS.
For example i wouldn't spend that much on a 4 yr old. But i would for an older child who would hopefully not outgrow it too quickly!

he is going to be 10. He has been using the bike that he had since he was 5 up until now but it it so tiny its ridiculous. I want to buy him a good bike that will last and as he is quite small for his age I think a 24" wheeled bike will see him through a few years.

If the one I have seen is too expensive. Does anyone have any good recommendations?
