Alternative to 5008

I think I'm going to have to get a Peugeot 5008 but I'm really resistant so hoping someone can suggest an alternative....

  • 7 seater
  • SUV rather than MPV style
  • Manual gearbox
  • Max 2/3 years old
  • Ability to put a belted ERF seat in the middle seat (even better if isofix but that's not an essential). Don't need 3 car seats in the middle row but need easy access to 3rd row.
  • Budget up to £30k

It's the manual gearbox I think that is a pain. I could get a slightly older Q7 or XC90 within budget but they don't make them in manual

A bus pass.

I think you can still get a Honda CRV with a manual. Definitely nicer than a Peugeot, but you’d probably have to dip into the nearly new market to come in under budget.

In all honesty I'd look at an XC90. I was dead against the auto gearbox in mine initially but now hate driving DH's manual golf. I had the same requirements as you (we stretched the budget to £32k for a low mileage one) and it's been a dream.

Thank you.

@jaundicedoutlook ooh, I'll investigate

@Thesaltandthesea Maybe I need to test drive an XC90? £32k isn't impossible so that could be an option.

@JellyBabiesFan helpful.

Why does it have to be an SUV?

The Peugeot Rifter or Citroen Berlingo offer everything you are looking for - including three isofix points in the middle row - and are built on the same platform as the 5008. All the mechanical bits are the same. With your budget you could buy a brand new one complete with three year warranty.

Sorry, forgot to say you'd need the XL versions of the Rifter or Berlingo to get seven seats.

Kia Sorento?
