Are they anygood? We had to prise dd off this in John Lewis but don't want to just buy a big lump of plastic tat which she will ignore after 5 mins. Any other recommendations for this sort of thing?

Thanks

We were given one by my sister and ds loves it! Isn't actually walking with it yet, has been pushing it around while walking on his knees... but really enjoys it. Before that stage, we took the activity centre off the walker so he could play with that on his own.
Warning: it is noisy and ds swiftly discovered he could do a scratch mix of nursery rhymes - very annoying!

v.good, but wheels very fast!
big W/woolworths had them on at £15 last year and most places are around that price if you have a look around.hth

DD loved her VTech walker, we didn't have any problems with the speed of it although Edam is right about the noise it makes. We're selling it at the moment, if you're anywhere near the West Midlands and fancy one!

we've got one. and my dd(1) loves it. Like others I think the wheels go quite fast so I am a bit nervous abou letting her off too much as we have wooden floors which she would take off on if she could! But its great and she loves the activity centre.

got ours on ebay dd loves it, no speed probs. always on ebay, got ours for 6 pounds!

yoyo · 31/10/2004 20:45

We got one for DD1 (now 8) and she loved it and so have DD2 and DS1. Have a look in second-hand shops as mine still looks like new (not too keen on the newer version but that's probably me being sentimental!). No problems with it going too fast either.

Had a look on ebay but by the time you count postage & packaging you may as well buy it new.

it is a hideous toy but my ds loved it.

we have a second hand toy place near us and this thing is one of the few things that they ALWAYS have one of. I think every parent gets one, so there they all are, a bit knocked about but still working and only a tenner. if you have one maybe you cld get one from there?

just bought one and dd seems to like it. Have only had her walking on the carpet as the wheels do go quite quickly on the wooden floor.
She spends a lot of time kneeling up playing with the buttons and LOVES the telephone.

pesme · 01/11/2004 22:10

dh just arrived home with one. can't wait to see dd tomorrow. I expect she will just gnaw the wheels or something. we have have been going round all evening saying 'hello baby' in various excruiating accents.

thanks for the advice everyone.
