I have nagged dh for about 3 months as we wanted one for joint xmas present for both boys (and ds1's birthday combined ) and of course, they have been like hen's teeth to get hold of.
So clever dh has ordered one from Germany (where there is no shortage) for £50 cheaper and our German friend will ship it out to us.
No more sleepless nights worrying....

I am trying everywhere to get one, where did he get it from, is it in English ?

fullmoonfiend · 09/11/2007 17:42

Amazon Germany

You can select which language it operates in - and yes, they do have English as an option

They do not ship from Germany to UK though, hence our german contact will be shipping it to us. We will also have to invest £5 on a plug adaptor (or just change the plug!)

I know this all sounds like a faff but I just cannot risk having no gift as it is for both children and covers a birthday as well.

We tried last Xmas in vain...(though dsses didn't know we were looking IYKWIM.)
This year it is all they have asked for.

I thought it was free shipping on Amazon.de to the UK.

I'm still having a panic just in case it all goes tits up,,,

tight gits! I hope you get yours okay - I'm sure it will be fine, they are quite heavy though.

fullmoonfiend · 09/11/2007 18:58

yes, I have a sneaking suspision that the posting insurance etc will counteract any savings we made

It looks like Amazon.de are delivering to the UK again - I just tried it and got this after putting my UK address, I didn't place the order as I don't need one but it seems to work -

Artikel: EUR 209,15
Verpackung & Versand EUR 6,00

Gesamtsumme ohne MwSt.: EUR 215,15
MwSt.: EUR 37,65

Gesamtbestellwert: EUR 252,80

Total cost at current exchange rate is around £177

I got one delivered to Scotland from Amazon.de (Germany) this week. They delivered it within 3 days of the order being placed. Only needed to change the plug. I was very impressed all round.

...and pretty impressed with myself that my 'o' level German got me through the checkout process... cough Babelfish had no involvement, honest.

pigsinmud · 10/11/2007 14:10

I've just ordered for my boys - seemed to go through alright.

Envy
HappyMummyOfOne · 10/11/2007 14:57

For those ordering from Germany you can buy an adaptor for the plug for a couple of pounds, if you change the plug from the moulded one it invalidates the warranty.

bubblerock · 10/11/2007 15:07

Why Blossom?

pigsinmud · 10/11/2007 15:18

Thanks for that Hmoo.Dh had already suggested getting an adaptor rather than swapping plugs.

Blossomhill · 11/11/2007 12:32

can't find one for ds

Why can't you order from amazon.de too Blossom?

I was at Woolworths this morning and they look like they have them in stock, unless they are just displaying loads of empty boxes for the fun of it.
They were priced up at £185. You get the Wii sports, control, nunchuck and an extra game. The choice was either a Carnival game or something else, I can't remember what it was though.

I am just looking at their website now to see if they are available for home delivery.
