Because I?d love to tap your brains?. We have a desktop and laptop and I need to be able to be able to see the files of one from another. So? I am trying to get both on a small home network. Both are connected to a wireless modem router and happily talk to that, but I can?t seem to get them networked? Have followed the create a wireless network wizard on the PC and it seems to want me to insert a usb memory stick into the modem and there is no usb port in modem. There is a manual option but it wont let me do that something about hardware?. (the PC uses a USB Logitech wireless g thingy to pick up wirelss signal). Oddly the laptop dances through the wizard no probs (odd because both run windows XP and you would have thought the wizard would be the same?..) but then nothing happens?.. My question is this- is it even possible to run a network where both computers are wirelss or does one have to be wired? If I can set it up can anyone see an obvious school boy error in what I am trying to do or will I have to resort to getting someone out to set it up (which we really can?t afford).
cheers in advance for any suggestions

you can do it, we do, but I am not sure how - you could try posting in Geeky Stuff

I have a feeling your desktop doesn't have a network card...

You say that both of the machines can see the wireless router ok. this means that both machines have the network configured correctly. you now need to enable sharing between the two machines.

You say you have windows XP on both machines. You just need to share out the folder on the machine that has the files and the other should pick it up.
Look at this page, it should explain what to do.
