Geomag is better quality.

The balls on Magnetix are larger - they do work with Geomag though but obviously, to avoid it being wonky, you need to balance any model with, er, matching large balls

Leslaki · 07/11/2007 19:45

Ds (nearly 6) def prefers geomag

Fennel · 07/11/2007 19:52

Is it Magnetix which has the safety warnings due to the occasional toddler swallowing the magnets and choking? Geomag is Ok for that, but one of the other similar products isn't. You get threads on it occasionally.

IMO the more expensive one is by far the best

(i forget whoch one is most expensive)

my old charges had lots of both types and the magnets kept coming out of the sticks of the cheeper one

SoupDragon · 07/11/2007 20:11

It was Magentix that had a safety recall (not in the UK though IIRC)

Thanks for all the info

What do you think of this.

Actually having a bit of a panic as DS birthday tommorow and the present that we have ordered for him has not arrived . He does love his geomag and plays with it all the time, I hoped that this would be something he would like - he is 6 in the morning.

I've just bought that one for DD3's Christmas present Peregrine. It's under my desk and I'm fighting the temptation to open it and try it out.

Perigrine · 09/11/2007 19:03

Rosa.

it's fab, loads of bendy bits and unusual shapes, me and dp and the two kids sat on the floor making up stuff. Huge hit thank goodness.

He had a fab birthday! I am sure that DD3 (and DD1 & 2) will love it.

I wouldn't have paid £80 though!
