Need advice on what game console to get

Ds is nearly 7 and would love some sort of game console. I am just so baffled what to get. A ps1 (cheap but is it worth it?) ps2, X Box, game cube the list is endless.
Any advice would be great. Obvioulsy the cheaper the games the more ideal it will be
Thank you

if you're going to get a playstation, it'll be better to get PS2, as they have stopped producing games for PS1 (although Im not sure whether you can play PS2 games on PS1, never tried) but you can play PS1 games on PS2 (sorry if you're confused!) I had an XBox, but didnt really like the choice of games they had. My brothers have game cube but the only good thing about that i would say is you can play zelda on it lol. most of the game consoles are quite cheap now mind u

I would say either a PS2 or Gamecube.I have boys aged 5 through to adult and they have both.I think the Gamecube is probably slightly better for the younger age group like your DS as a lot of the games for this are aimed at kids that age.

I have a PS2 and an x-box. X box have come down in price (under £100 now) as xbox 2 is going to be released soon.

I think that my fav is the PS2 - lots of games that I find cheaper than the xbox.

DH prefers the xbox because he likes the games better and the graphics are better.

For a seven year old I would get a cheap one ecause with new consoles coming out better and more pricey all of the time it will only be a couple of years before you are under pressure to get a different one!! Also a tip get your games off e-bay second hand - sooo much cheaper, and once he is bored of the game sell it on ebay.

ps2 as you can also watch dvds and play cds on it so covers a few things

blossomhill · 30/10/2004 11:25

I think the ps2 sounds like the better option. Thanks fr all of your advice!

ebay can be, but would check feedback before you go buying anything. think they're quite cheap now in the shops though. think the silver PS2 is more expensive than the normal PS2 though

Thers is a new smaller model PS2 out soon, and Amazon was the cheapest place I could find it. Anyone found one cheaper? - I plan to order one as a Xmas present.
