Marble runs

Anyone's DC's got a marble run? Do they play with it much?

Was looking at this. Expensive I know but looks like a nice sturdy traditional type toy.

I looked at that too, my dc have some cheap plastic marble run sets (3 in total) they mix them altogther and play with them for ages, the thing with this one is imo, there is not enough 'interesting' bits on it, just one helix, their sets have helix's (sp?) and wheels and ridged bits and funnels and alsorts, but, it's broke and doesn't work as well now, which is why I was looking at replacing it, I just think that this is too expensive and wouldn't be worth the money. There are other ones around.....

sorry, was brushing bits of sweets of the mouse pad and sent it twice

toolly · 06/11/2007 16:25

We got a quercetti one from amazon. Mine do play with it but with a lot of help from me. They are 3.3 and 16 months

ChasingSquirrels · 06/11/2007 16:26

ohh it looks lovely, but seriously, £70, are you REALLY considering it?

wannaBe · 06/11/2007 16:29

I have marble madness from elc and my ds loves it. but I wouldn't pay 70 quid for one.

Budabang · 06/11/2007 16:39

Thanks all.

ChasingSquirrels - sort of! It looks so nice and sturdy and traditional! Agree it may not have enough interesting bits though. It appeals more than the plastic ones as they look as if they would break easily.

Will have a look at the quercetti one toolly - thanks.

3Ddonut - sweets? Where's mine?

wannaBe - will check out the ELC one.

We have the ELC one & its great with all the wiggly bits & different shaped pieces - agree that one is lovely & sturdy but doesn't look very exciting.

chocolateteapot · 06/11/2007 16:51

That wooden one looks lovely. We have a cheap plastic one, can't remember where it comes from. It is the bane of my life though as I can never get the thing together properly and I dread it when DS asks to get it out. He loves it though, especially when DH has put it together as he does it properly.

We have a Quercetti glow-in-the-dark plastic one (ds's 4th b'day pres), and a very sophisticated thing called Skyrail (last Christmas, when ds was 7) - both have been played with masses.

We didn't really help ds play with either, but left him to get on by himself: result was it took him quite a while to get a handle on them - and further result being he now is completely at home with & in charge of both (well, he's generously passed the Quercetti one onto dd, who's just 7).

However - whenever we go to someone's house who's got the bog standard plastic ELC one ds & dd fall on that even more delightedly.

Moral: get the bog standard ELC one.

Budabang · 06/11/2007 17:31

Lol Bink!

I saw the Skyrail one - that is expensive too.
