I recently bought the Braun silk-expert and have been using it for the last 4 weeks. I’m definitely starting to see results already which for £280 is brilliant.

I’ve also had expensive salon laser previously which seemed to need continual topping up and cost far more than it was worth

I have a Philips lunea and I've been really impressed with the results. I'm due 3rd session this week and my legs are really patchy now

I got a Philips Lumea to test and was a bit sceptical about how well it would work on my pasty skin and fair hair but I really love it. It does take patience in the beginning as you do the first three sessions over about six weeks, although I did start to see some results in two to three weeks. The settings are easy to adjust to your preference, and not only is it painless to use, I find the warming pulses quite relaxing. Would I pay full whack? Nope, but only because different retailers, and Philips themselves, often do huge reductions on them so it's worth waiting for a good deal.

As far as I'm aware you can only buy IPL devices over the counter bar tria (which isnt meant to be that great).

Have you tried Groupon or wowcher for local laser hair removal deals?
