isn't it part of your job description that you tell us what kitchen stuff to get?

I would answer, but all my stuff is crap and I wouldn't recommend it to anyone

JARM · 04/11/2007 13:27

same here squonk! all my stuff is cheap shite!

jamila169 · 04/11/2007 13:28

Anything that's cheap and does what you want it to, they all break after a year anyway!

GunpowderTreasonAndSquonk · 04/11/2007 13:28

although I am very impressed with my bin. Got it from Asda for about £4.

Tis fab

how do you get to have a fav bin/kettle etc - do you buy one then realise you don't like it and buy another etc. Surely most people just buy a bin/microwave etc and use it, barely thinking about it unless it breaks?

brimfull · 04/11/2007 22:45

I have dualit toaster and kettle
brabantia touch thingy bin ,happy with all of them and have had for yrs.

My microwave is shite though

suzywong · 04/11/2007 23:15

OK, I have, and love:

Dualit toaster pretty much indestructable.

Simple Human butterfly top bin, pedal bin (so hands-free to open) with a soft-close lid so it doesn't clang shut when you take your foot off the pedal. Also, v good looking.

Sharp microwave/conventional oven/grill. Really fabulous, I use the oven function all the time. My built-in oven is v unreliable so always bake in this one with perfect results. You can also combine its fuctions eg microwave and oven together for fab baked spuds. Also, it preheats in no time at all.

My kettle is a Philips. It looks like a rounded old fashioned metal one but is a cordless electric one. Always been v reliable.

I have had all these things for 7 years now (except the bin, just over a year) and have never had any problems/breakdowns with any of them yet.

HTH.

kettle: just bought this Krups one but in brushed steel. here Very happy with it though the casing does get boiling hot after it boils. I used to have an outrageously expensive Siemens one and i think this is better.
toaster: Dualit. wedding present, brilliant.
bin: Brabantia this one i know it is nearly £100 but it is out quite prominently in the kitchen so wanted it to look good... brushed steel means it doesn't get dirty either.
microwave: £25 basic one from Curry's. Does everything just fine!

suzywong · 06/11/2007 12:20

Mmmmmm...kitchen appliiance porn
thanks very much, will investigate the Krupps and dualit

Dualit toaster definately!

Had mine 12 years and it was 2nd hand when I got it and only replaced the elements once five years ago!

excellent value
