when i founf out i was pg i gave my oh a massive leacture on sensible spending and the like. since then he has been very good, he cancelled his williams hills card ( not really a big gambler but it all helps), he spends alot less if he goes out ith the boys and he even painted the front room himself rather than pay some one ( massive thing for his to do as he is shit at diy). i on the other hand i have gone mad. we set out a budget for the baby stuff we need and i have not stuck to it at all ( apart from bargain sterilizer from tesco). i only have to buy the bedroom furniture now and i would like a matching set. i know the more knowledgable 2nd and 3rd timers are going to tell me not to bother with the matching stuff but its my first so i want it. trouble is i only have about £400 and i want a changer with draws, cotbed and wardrobe. i have seen one in argos called salisbury but i was wondering if any one has any other suggestions. i have been looking on line and i am shocked at some of the prices.

Ikea.

Don't buy a child's size wardrobe though. Buy an adult one and put an extra rail in.

have a look on eBay?

doggiesayswoof · 02/11/2007 11:52

The good thing about Ikea is they have loads of ranges which match, so you could have e.g. cotbed, changer and adult sized wardrobe all in the same range. Baby sized wardrobe a definite waste of money imo.

Hensvik range. Plain white and simple.

Hemnes range. Bought the chest of 3 drawers for DS and was so impressed with it that we bought the 8 drawer version for DD four years later. All the little drawers on the top are great for organising her sleepers, bodies, tights, socks, bibs, etc. Intended to buy the matching wardrobe but got seduced by a non matching one which we thought was better quality (we did the 'shake and rattle it' comparison test). Would definitely recommend both these as we have them and they are pretty solid. Don't go too cheap - you get what you pay for!
