i was going to get dd one, she is 18mo and drinks ok out of cup with no lid or my glass she has tommee tippee anyay up at minute i often give her this without the lid on with small amount juice covering the bottom and top up as needed, i think they have the angled sides so that its easy for toddlers as they dont need to tip it as much hth
btw it takes practice

Ds 14 months has used one happily from 7 months - won't drink from bottle/sippy cup though- but still needs help holding it(the handles are relatively quite small - and he would tip it all over just for fun ).
The angled side does make it easier to drink from than an ordinary cup although he is now fine with these as well.I got mine from John Lewis BTW.

dd is 13 months and uses one sometimes. we only ever put a wee bit in it at a time as she does sometimes just tip it over herself.

have you seen the new 360 degrees cups? - very cool!

my 13 month old uses his tommee tippee first cup with the lid off without being too messy. They are cheaper too with bigger handles so easier to hold. The also have a lid with a flip up spout making them easier to transport and to use when out and about. No need to pay for a doidy cup (imho of course) when an ordinary one will do just as well

I have one that we have hardly used - just used normal beakers or tommee without lid.
(TIP: practise in the bath...)
If anyone wants to collect it from N16 (North London) you are welcome to it!
