My hoover has died and as I have a dustmite allergy ( not to mention a cat and dog who are shedding everywhere) I need to replace it now. I need a good hoover for the above reasons buit can't afford a dyson what would people suggest.

p.s we have stairs and a misture of carpets and laminate flooring.

Everyone I know with allergies has the dyson (the allergy specific one).
Could you try ebay?

sebo supposed to be v good, but pricey

janeybops · 26/10/2004 14:50

I have bought a Henry this summer and very pleased with it! Less that £100 and has a good suck...

My dyson (not the cat hair one) just the basic is a complete disappointment misses loads of bits. Maybe its faulty but I haven't ever got round to complaining.

pixiefish · 26/10/2004 15:53

the biseelle is super see my comments here

I've just recently bought Henry and I'm very pleased with him!

now am spolit for choice seen miele cat and dog, sebo K1 cylinder and the bisell ( which I took a fancy to in comets actually) all for similar money.

I ahve noticed the trend for hoovers designed to pick up pet hair, dyson also do one. Do people think they are actually better at doing this or is it just a gimmick to get us to part with our hard earned cash.

Havent read the whole thread but have had a miele cat and dog hoover for about 5 years its really good and pick up the enormous amount of dog hair shed by our golden retriever, really recommend it can get it from comet stores. HTH

Miele great, much better than the Dyson I had previously.

WestCountryLass · 28/10/2004 22:21

We've got a Dyson (the first model) and it is great!

pixiefish · 28/10/2004 22:23

the only drawback with the bisselle is that it is quite heavy- but I've got round that by splitting it to do the stairs and then going back for the other part. Oh and you can scare yourself to death by seeing how much dust and pet hair there is in your house!
Ask for a demonstration in comet- that's how i got mine as i was unsure- tried a few of them and fell in lurve with the Bisselle
