Tripp Trapp for a large one year old - do I need the baby set/harness?

Horrible blasted Chicco Polly highchair consigned to the loft. DD likes sitting at the table with us, currently in a portable flimsy booster seat, I think we need something more robust.

Should have gone for a tripp trapp in the first place I know. She is large for her age do I need a baby set (not cushions just the seat bit as she didn't even fit with the cushioned set when she was 7 months)? How long does the baby set last? What do you do then, harness and just the seat? She hates being harnessed in anything.

A bit confused. Help please

I can't remember when I took the baby seat bit off our trip trap - but I know ds was quite young - but I've always been anti harness, reins, all that sort of stuff. I think ds was about 18 months? It depends a a bit on the child - if it's just to keep them safe and comfortable, the way the seat works means they should be OK once they are sitting securely and not inclined to wobble. If it's to keep them contained then you'll want to keep the harness as long as possible. Sorry - I realize that I have been no help at all. Fab choice though - ds still uses his at the table and he's 6 - dd is 11 and has hers as a desk chair in her room

iirc dd was using it at 18 months/2 but wasnl t so big. Bt then she learnt to climb out but did use a harness for a bit. From there on we just sat her on it like a higher chair. We only ahd the bar and cushions (which she still uses at 6 ) not the high back which may make the baby set more restrictive. They don't sell the back rest in Europe , you just use the low one with the bar, no D rings for a harness either !

Went away to a place with a tripp trapp when ds was 13 mths (small for age) and he was fine without a baby insert.I really liked the tripp trapp BTW.

Sorry bit confusing - no harness just the bar across the front of the seat.

Thanks next step is to persuade DH that we need to buy one, has agreed that the Chicco Polly needs to be consigned to the bin/loft

I think there's an IKEA equivalent that's cheaper - can't get onto the ikes site at the mo though
