New extension will make house really long ... need fantastic baby monitor

Had a look on Which and they all say things like Outdoor range - 300m, indoor Victorian house range - 5m. We'll be more than 5m away and already struggle a bit with our phones losing reception, and although our dc aren't tiny babies anymore, we obviously need to be able to hear them if they cry or anything happens.

So, anyone got experience of a fab monitor that actually works in a victorian house. There won't be any doors between the baby unit and the parent unit but as the crow flies there'll be walls and floors (well, one floor, it's not that big an extension)??

Philips digital ones have the best range imho. We've had two (DD broke the 1st one ) and they work in our big house and HUGE garden as well as across 2 floors in an old hotel.

We also have a BT digital one for DS and the range is nowhere near as good

thanks amazonianwoman ... found a website that lets you try and if not good enough reception you can send them back so will get ordering a Philips one and give it a go.

BT Digital Plus - we have a very long old house with 3 floors and it's fab.
