Hi, I'm to buying adult DS a kindle for Christmas. I'd like to give it to him with a couple of books pre loaded. What's the best way to do this please? I have an Amazon account, not sure if he has.
Thanks.

You need it linked to an amazon account to load books. Why not just get the kindle and an amazon gift card and he can buy his own books

Could I link it to mine, add some books, then he could link it to his own account at a later date?

im sure he would lose the books when you change accounts

You 'might' be able to link a kindle to more than one account. It's ringing a bell.

Honestly just get the voucher. Keeps it simple! And once bought they're available immediately

I agree - go with a voucher for the books. As they are available immediately there is no benefit to pre-loading them really.

You can buy Kindle books as gifts, but your DS will need to dowbload them him self. When you buy the book an email will be sent to him with a link for download. www.amazon.co.uk/b?node=16105196031&tag=mumsnetforu03-21&ie=UTF8

You can share books between accounts, you have to set it up as family. I have my own kindle & amazon account as does my Mam. We’ve set it up that when she buys books they automatically download to my kindle too.
