For those of you who were very helpful in suggesting places to buy a new rabbit to raplace the one DS lost in a car crash, i just wanted to let you know - she has been found!!

The person who stopped on the M4 to help us finally e-mailed me back to say that he found the rabbit in his car. Its been nearly 4 weeks since the crash so we had really given up hope. In fact i have now bought a replacement bunnie - the Rollo rabbit, thanks CountessD - who is a big hit, but nothing can replace 'Rabby'. DS will be so excited when R finally appears in the post - special delivery and addressed to him.

It really has cheered me up and taken the edge off the crash.

Brilliant news!

bubblerock · 16/10/2007 16:40

OMG!! - I read that and first thought surely a rabbit wouldn't survive being lost on the M4, then - how the hell did the guy not notice a rabbit in his car for 4 weeks - then he is in the POST!!

Maudy · 19/10/2007 11:14

yes, i did wonder why he hadn't found her before but i think it is a work car and he is a single man. Maybe he never has need to get in the back?!!

Still no sign of package in the post....

Can we be absolutely clear here. Is this a real rabbit or a toy one?

Maudy · 19/10/2007 11:27

It is a toy rabbit. I'm not sure i could bear the look on DS's face if a lost REAL rabbit was sent recorded delivery, in a parcel, after 4 weeks of being lost on the M4.

I thought the title 'Lost Jellycat rabbit' might give it away....!!

ww!

ThreadyKrueger · 19/10/2007 11:33

I thought jellycat must be someone's mn name. Evidently it's some small-children's character that my aging dcs never came acrosss

Oh great news! I followed your thread and have been looking out for one in the shops as I have been out and about! Can we have a reunion photo on your profile? DD is only 13m and I live in fear of her losing Ted Ted. Although I have been and bought another one since reading about the lost toys on here!

Maudy · 19/10/2007 11:42

Jellycat is a make of soft toy who rather annoyingly change their stock all the time so that when you lose one, it is impossible to find it again.

Once the reunion has taken place, i will let you know...photo to follow!!

So pleased your dc and rabbit will be reunited. You will be able to make up a wonderful story of the rabbit's adventures while away from home. Have you read Roverandom -- a beautiful story that JRR Tolkein invented for his son about their pet dog that had been lost (and was sadly not found)? It is lovely.

Maudy · 08/11/2007 12:29

Toy rabbit has now been returned! It all worked out so well. The parcel arrived but no one was in so we had to go to the post office to pick it up. I hadn't told either DS what was going on incase it didn't turn up so they were both baffled by the fact that DS2 had a card from the postman and couldn't figure out what it was. DS1 - aged 9 - kept trying to trick information out of me but i wasn't giving anything away.

When DS2 then opened the package we were all crowding round in excitement and his little face....god it was almost worth crashing the car for. He was SO overjoyed. He lept on to my lap and cuddled both me and Rabby and was just so stunned, he was fairly speechless. The only thing he said was - "she came home!".

He now sleeps with both the new and old rabbits. We are once again at peace.
