I didn't realise there were "ladies'" helmets. I have a big head and just picked one at the local cycle store (same range as DH's so I assume it's technically a "men's" helmet, which would account for why it fits). They were all relatively plain TBH so nothing to offend delicate girly sensibilities...

So, in general, if you have a local independent cycle store then try them. Or Evans which is a chain I think but normally good.

we dont have a independant cycle shop here.

all the mens ones qwere boring grey. i want purple lol.

the lovely purple one only went to 58cm. my head doesnt shrink

also found the mark up for the next size up was a lot. purple one was £24, the grey one that fitted was £39

Mine is a nice shade of blue...

If you can find a reasonably-priced mens' helmet I guess there's nothing to stop you (or the DDs) going crazy with some stickers and glitter paint...

mm blue is passable.

but not grey

where did u get yours?

is it ok to order one from a website or better to heck the fit in person?

Definitely check the fit in person. I've a similar size head so always struggle with hats/helmets. Mine's a black/grey unisex one, no purple in sight I'm afraid.

its a PITA just getting a winter hat that fits comfortably, let alone a cycle helmet.

will see if i can get into town tomorrow and check the fit on thre grey £££ one.

I had the same problem a few months ago (though think I only needed 59 or 60cm). Got one in the end from here.

LadyVictoriaOfCake · 15/10/2007 22:07

the one i found on that site is still over £40.

[sighs]

i know you cant put a price on safety, but all i want is a basic helmet, nothing fancy or aerodynamic..i still need to get my other bits like locks and lights.
