Anyone had a problem with a washing machine not draining properly?

Dh did all sorts with it yesterday, took bits apart, cleaned everything, checked to see at what stage of the programme water started leaking. He thinks the drainage pipe might be clogged up. Basically after every wash we have water underneath the machine. Most of the water does drain away but there's usually about a litre left in the machine which dh drained by opening up a pipe. I'm wondering if it's worth getting a repair man in, trying a new drainage pipe, or just getting a new one. All ideas appreciated.

Yes, it's happened twice to ours (only 2 yrs old )

First time DD's sock was stuck in the drainage pipe, second time a breastpad! Cue v embarrassed repair man...

Now all little socks go in a mesh bag to avoid another £70 call out charge

yes we have had that
lots of shit stuck in filter to drain pipe
dh sorted it himself
get your dh to root around in drainpipe and see if you can find the filter
