Seagate Free agent hard disk drive - plug in and er well what next?

Dh assures me he's plugged it in correctly - but I can'r see it in my computer - what am I doing wrong?

I assume it's USB connected? Did you plug it in and then reboot? If not, try doing so.

If you are on windows, you may need to scan for hardware.
