Washer/dryer recommendations

We're looking to replace our old washer/dryer. I know that combined machines aren't as good as separate ones, but we don't have space for both and we've got a baby due soon so a replacement washer/dryer makes sense for us.

Does anyone have any recent recommendations? Not quite sure where to start or what to look for! Budget is a bit flexible but probably doesn't stretch to Miele.

Thanks.

We’ve got separate washing machine and dryer but in terms of brand I can recommend Siemens as they’re very good. Before that, we had Samsung but both broke within 3-4 years and needed replacing so I wouldn’t go with Samsung again.

Beko 7/5 wash and dry. We installed one on our liveaboard boat 4 years ago and chose the same model for our rental property, also have one in our winter accommodation, not a minute's trouble with any of them.

Just to add, the model we have doesn't have a half or small load option, BUT I use the Super Short (14 to 19 minutes) and Daily Quick programs practically all the time as they take less water and energy than other settings. Dryer is a condenser type, no vent needed.

Thanks everyone! This is really helpful. The second hand Miele idea is worth a look - any suggestions of where? They are a lot more expensive than others new and I'm not sure we could justify that with a new baby on the way!
