Tried googling but can't find an answer to this seemingly simple question

I renewed with 3 years NCB in February. I received a rear end shunt this year, which was non-fault and the insurers recovered the costs from the other driver's insurers. My insurer told me there will be no effect on my NCB because of this.

My question is - when I renew in Feb will I have 3 or 4 years NCB - does the no- fault claim still count as a claim, and stops me from going from 3 to 4 years NCB? I've emailed my insurers and they didn't seem to understand the question.

Obviously this is assuming I have no at fault claims before renewal touch wood*

You will have 4 years when you come to renew assuming no fault claims between now and then.
