When you get a new mobile phone, is it possible to transfer your contacts list from the old one? < please say yes! can't bear the thought of having to do it by hand>

but then they will have a record of your contacts on their system

Does your existing phone have an option to save things on to phone or SIM? If so save everything on your SIM and then just put it in the new one

They should be on your sim card. Just insert old sim card in new phone and off you go...

If you have software which allows you to put your contacts onto your pc (is often supplied with phone), then you may be able to stick them from old phone onto computer, then from computer to new phone.

Although if your phone phonebook allows you to have multiple numbers under the same name, your SIM may not.

I just swapped the sim card to the new one. Everything was there.

If you're changing network you need to get one of those port numbers(?) to transfer over, so you use the same SIM and keep your old phone number.
